International Assignment: Shayla Worley

In the preliminary round on Friday, Shayla performed flawlessly and placed second in the all-around behind Nastia Liukin.  Both US gymnasts qualified for finals as the top gymnasts to beat.

Finals were held on Saturday afternoon where Shayla again had another stellar meet.  Shayla started off on vault where she improved her score from the previous day (14.375).  Next was the uneven bars where she again hit her new routine (3 releases) for a 15.010.  Shayla's best event was next; balance beam.  She performed everything flawlessly except for her series (back handspring, layout, korbut).  She was a little off on her layout into her next skill with her foot slipping off the beam but she managed to stay on and complete a great routine (15.350).  Shayla had the highest score on beam of the night!  Floor was just icing on the cake to end her senior debut.  She performed with pizzazz and finished all of her tumbling passes cleanly (14.950).  In the end, Shayla placed second in the all-around (59.775) behind her teammate, Nastia Liukin (60.050)!

Congratulations, Shayla!!
