Jeff Wood is the owner of Orlando Metro Gymnastics and began coaching women's gymnastics in 1979.  Jeff's gymnastics coaching experience is quite vast, spanning a period of some 22 years.  Over the course of those years, he has worked closely with some of the best coaches in the country.  He has been instrumental in producing world class athletes who have reached the pinnacle of gymnastics success as competitors in national and international competitions, as well as the Olympic games.  He has coached Elite level athletes to the U.S. Championships, has placed athletes on the U.S. National Team, and has TOPs National Team members training under his guidance.  In addition, Jeff Wood has had International Elites travel to Australia and even Canada to compete and last year was name head coach of the U.S.A. Gymnastics Pan Am Team for the competition held in the Dominican Republic, where the U.S. Team earned the gold medal.

Wood's unique style of basics and discipline have become his coaching trademark.  His goal - to have every gymnast be as strong and successful as she can be - is paramount in his life.  Wood shows great creativity in his active solicitation of Universities through the United States on behalf of his senior gymnasts.  There is a complete library of videos featuring all of his senior athletes readily available upon request for all NCAA Gymnastics recruiters.  Says Wood, "These young ladies are the ultimate role models for my younger athletes."  It is important to note that since the program opened in November 1992 every graduating senior gymnast in the girls' team program has been offered a full athletic scholarship in gymnastics.

Jeff Wood was born on December 18, 1959.  He grew up in the St. Augustine area of Florida and is a graduate of Florida State University.  Jeff and his wife, Cheryl, live in Maitland with their two sons, Chris and Matt.
