RESULTS FROM THE 2005 JUNGLE GYM INVITE   November 23, 2005
The Metro girls had a great showing at the recent Jungle Gym Invite. Metro won NINE all-around titles and TWO team titles.  Congratulations on a successful weekend girls!!

Tai takes part in the USA vs Germany Men's Dual Meet Competition.    October 19, 2005
The United States and German Junior National Teams have come together at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs for a joint training camp and competition.  The United States fielded two teams - USA 1 and USA 2 in competition with the team from Germany.  USA Team 1 took first place with a score of 206.575 and the German Team took second with a score of 206.300, followed by USA Team 2 scoring a 201.200!

Elites have a great showing in France and Seung Tai Lee wins medals in Japan!    October 18, 2005
Kassi Price won the all-around title at the 2005 Massilia Gym Cup, Oct. 15-16, in Marseilles, France. Price also earned gold medals on the uneven bars and floor exercise, as well as the silver medal on vault and Shayla Worley earned the silver medal on the uneven bars!  The U.S. Team earned a total of seven medals at the international meet, which featured teams from eight countries.

a new layout for Orlando metro's website    October 6, 2005
A new layout has been added to Orlando Metro's website.  Every page has been re-designed including new graphics and an updated look.  New features such as, a results index for the men and women teams (photos included), new profiles for the men and women's compulsory, optional, and elite team, an articles index featuring the Orlando Metro Gems article in a recent Inside Gymnastics magazine.  Also be sure to sign the newly added guestbook!  We hope you enjoy your visit to Orlando Metro's new website design and please come back soon!

Metro's elites are assigned an international assignment    October 3, 2005
Kassi Price, Shayla Worley, and Melanie Sinclair are assigned an international assignment in France!  They will join Ashley Priess of Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy and will represent the United States in the 2005 Massilia Gym Cup, October 15-16, in Marseilles, France.

Held at the Marseilles Palace of Sports, the two-day international meet is expecting teams from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, The Netherlands, Russia and the United States. The event has an opening ceremony slated for Oct. 14. The team competition is Oct. 15, with the individual event finals on Oct. 16.

Coaches for the U.S. Team are Christi Mitchell-Barineau and Jeff Wood of Orlando Metro and Mary Lee Tracy of Cincinnati (Ohio) Gymnastics.  Congratulations Metro elites!

Seung Tai Lee, kassi price and shayla Worley all placed in top 5 at national championships    august 18, 2005
Seung Tai Lee, Shayla Worley, and Kassi Price were on fire at the 2005 Visa U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Indianapolis, IN. Shayla finished 3rd all-around with a two day combined score of 73.515. Kassi finished 5th all-around with a two day combined score of 73.696.  Seung Tai Lee finished 2nd all-around in the junior men's with an all-around score of 49.650.

Performances at the US Classic bring in great results for Metro's Elites    July 24, 2005
Shayla, Melanie, and Kassi competed in Virginia Beach, VA for the US Classic.  All three girls performed great routines which qualified them to the 2005 US National Championships in August!

metro does great at the Level 10 national Championships    may 15, 2005
The girls earned several event titles and medals:  Amanda Castillo (National Floor Champion; 2nd on Vault; 3rd on Bar; and 4th All Around); Brittney Noble (National Floor Champion, 5th on Bars, and 6th All Around); Talita Norberto (2nd on Floor); Brittney Hardiman (3rd on Floor); Abbey Habicht (4th on Beam and 9th on Bar); Lauren Ykimoff (9th on Vault and 10th on Floor); and Christina Suhr (9th on Beam).

success at the level 9 eastern national championships    may 9, 2005
The girls earned several medals: Mackenzie Fanaro (1st on Bar-9.600, 2nd All-Around-37.150, and 3rd on Beam-9.475); Jenna Courtney (2nd All-Around-37.150, 4th on Beam-9.425, and 8th on Vault-9.150); Kailee Kovacs (1st on Beam-9.475 and 10th All-Around-36.425); Sarah Mackey (2nd on Floor-9.350, 6th on Vault-9.125, and 8th All-Around-36.400), Lindsay DiSalvatore (10th on Vault-9.025).

five regional titles for Orlando metro   April 17, 2005
This year marks the third year in a row that Orlando Metro has qualified at least 10 gymnasts to Nationals. Orlando Metro qualified more girls to Nationals this year than any other gym in the USA. Fantastic job, girls!!

visa us national championships   April 15, 2005
Melanie Sinclair, Kassi Price and Shayla Worley all qualified for National Championships this year. Melanie was also selected to compete in her 4th World Cup meet in Belgium on April 27th. Bring home the gold, girls!!

level 8's finish up the season well   April 8, 2005
Brittney Murfitt shined at the 2005 Region 8 Championships in Boca Raton on April 8th, taking the All Around title, as well as first place on beam. Also grabbing top spots in individual events were Heather Finnegan on bars and Jade Wiggins on beam.

international assignments for metro's elites   march 25, 2005
Orlando Metro isn't just a powerhouse in the state of Florida. We're also on the international stage. Melanie Sinclair, Kassi Price and Shayla Worley were all selected to represent the USA on a European Tour leaving on March 28th that will take them to Great Britain and Switzerland. One third of the team is from Orlando Metro! Let's wish them all luck as they do us proud on the other side of the pond.

METRO DOMINATES AT THE 2005 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS   march 20, 2005
Orlando Metro re-affirmed its domination of the sport of gymnastics in Florida by sweeping the level 8, 9 and 10 titles at the USAG Florida 2005 State Championships in Tallahassee. For the level 10 team, this year marked its 4th straight state title.

Melanie to compete in the visa American cup   February 22, 2005
World Cup medalist Melanie Sinclair will replace Olympian Mohini Bhardwaj on the U.S. Women's roster for the 2005 American Cup, Feb. 25-26 at Nassau Coliseum in New York. Sinclair was selected during the Women's National Team Training Camp, which concludes in Hunstville, Texas today. Sinclair, 17, is a native of Orlando and competes for Orlando Metro Gymnastics under Jeff Wood. Bhardwaj withdrew from consideration on Monday.

men's future star results   January 11, 2005
The Orlando Metro boys did very well at the 2004 Future Stars competition. Sean Melton, Taylor Sumagpang, Jordan Melton and Wyatt Aycock all qualified for the Future Stars National Team and Jesus Romero and Zach Oliver qualified for the Future Stars National Developmental Team.  Way to go, guys!
